Measurements doesn't reflect everything in listening experience, but it is important to capture something that's not right during the built. And we get a -70dB of H2 in SS300B Very Happy

"I am seeing red. Yes because just how much is CCY’s latest power amp the SS300B cost? RM7k with spare change . Blimey!

This unit is courtesy of Joe Ling’s who was kind to lend me for a spin, the first one sold in Sarawak, perhaps Borneo too.

25W is not alot but it’s pure Class A. Don’t expect it to drive difficult load impossible impedance speakers. Where this SS300B is happiest is in a habitat with easy to drive loudspeaker (not necessary high sensitivity) and a small listening space. In this goldilocks speakers partnership and environement it will reward you with a luxurious midrange, very open and refine topend.

First thing that comes to my mind listening to that midrange is 300B tubes. Single ended tube refinement territory. The amp before CCY’s came to my music room was a Cayin A300 so I know how comparable the two sounds. The Cayin sounding just slightly meatier.

Some said this amp’s archiles heel is its lack of bass oomph. Yeah, but one must re-setup the loudspeakers to allow the SS300B chance to give its best bass qualities. While its not gutt pounding, its good bass with sufficient depth, detail and heft.

What about rock? Can it rock out? Again I want to remind doubters give this SS300B an environment it likes best (easy load, small listening space) surely it can rock. I ran Led Zep’s Good Times Bad Times and Hans Zimmer’s fabulously recorded Wonder Woman 1984 soundtrack with flying colours.

Harping on the SS300B best qualities is its ability to draw you deep into the music making you go through your music catalogue. Its so organic sounding just ridiculously easy to fall in love with. Its never fatiguing and no upper mids glare.

I own a Schiit Aegir but didn’t bother to compare it. I know well enough the Aegir is no way able to come close to this SS300B which is far airier and throws a larger and more holographic 3D soundstage.

Final words, a glowing compliment to Ccy.Engineering for putting out this SS300B power amp to the market. Wunderbar!"
