Rare Audiophile Disc of 3 Great Masters (Audiophile Reissue) New and Sealed (SOLD)
The Following Items are Sold as a Lot (Individual Request are not valid).
The Items listed here, do not barge into Free Jazz, an idiom latter embraced by the likes of John Coltrane's later reordings,
The Later Charles Mingus or the Avant-Garde compositions of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, these are highly listenable especially on well set up audiophile gear which s satisfactory, enough to bring out every nuance of minute details wrapped
into the recording sessions - Quinta Ruban.
1.Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Other Folk's Music (Collector's Jazz Classics - Made in USA)
Audiophile version which differs from the Atlantic reissue, hard case - real music.
Rahsaan is thoroughly engaging here setting up somewhat an "orchestra" entirely made of layers of horn section, with his famous
"manzello" and other wood winds, accompanying musicians are broad minded and able to mesh seamlessly with the idea of the album, shimmering ethereal jazz;which bonds with blues and americana - a true audiophile treat, the separation between instruments overlays the album very nicely, highly recommended. From a rare and miss-understood master, this is real jazz, which is evolution.
Call it off the beaten track, but high accessible - give it a go on your "Reference" Set up, will be pleasantly surprised, slave cry meets jazz.
2.Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) - Kynysa Blue (Enja/TipToe Recors - Made in Germany)
Subtle piano meets layers of africanesque horn arrangement fused with the lament of africa, the spaced improvisation is peculiar to
Dollar Brand due to the unique piano tuning, African Heritage meets jazz, recorded just after the musician returned from exile.
The power of the story of the lost love told in Knysna Blue is more complex than human love and personality.
The story is set in the context of the loss of access to the physical beauty of Capetown South Africa during Apartheid. This opening jazz- backed poem is powerful because it combines the politics of apartheid with the poignancy of love's labors lost. He tells us that, "Once I heard a Cape Town mystic say, "if you feel yor love is sliping away, And you just don't know what more to do, Just wash your tears in Knysna morning dew." Enough said! his cd is a central feature of the creative work of this South African jazz master.
3.Charles Mingus - Mingus Moves (Collectors Jazz Classics Made in U.S.A)
Great Fidelity on this record, moment George Adams opens the tune on the Tenor Saxophone - one is left indeed left in awe, of the high
quality of recording/mastering.A variaty of styles is presented here wit two very different ballads: "Canon" and "Moves." There's also a
chop-craving up-tempo waltz titled "Opus 4." "Opus 3" reminds me of Mingus' composing-style at the "Pithecantropus"-era. There's the
bonus track "Big Alice" - a latin-influenced Don Pullen composition. The solos on the other bonus track "The Call" give you a feeling of something from the "Changes" session (which wasn't recorded long after these 1973 sessions.) Good sound-quality. The whole album has a clear mix,of eclectic mingus, Pianist Don Pullen shines everywhere here, in additional to mingus' signature bass sting,
would like to reiterate that this is the Collectable Jazz Classics reissue and not the digi-packed budget atlantic version, which falls short of fidelity.
PRICE : RM 110.00 for the entire LOT (non negotiable)
