Sound
This is the kind of CD player that expects to be used long and often,
and it will certainly reward extensive playing. It's generally smooth
and easy on the ear, and noticeably lacking in any harshness or grain,
which are often the by-products of obsessive attention to detail.
Tonally, it's pretty much neutral, though there's an element of warmth
compared to some players that isn't unattractive - if you're not averse
to the odd bit of vinyl-spinning, switching to CD won't seem like too
much of a jolt afterwards. For most of us the near-total absence of digital grain or edge should
be seen as an advantage. This can sometimes seem like a lack of
resolving power, but it's only occasionally noticeable and certainly
doesn't get in the way of the essence of the music - in general this is
an extremely musical player with an innate sense of how the music
should flow. Perhaps it lacks a little when it comes to dealing with particularly
complex pieces. Some John Coltrane live recordings sounded a bit blurry
when they have appeared clearer with other players, and some of the
subtleties in large orchestral works didn't appear as well defined as
they might have been, with insufficient separation on some pieces.
These are however minor caveats against a player that understands the
business of playing music as well as this one clearly does. This may not be the player that will most appeal to specialists who
want to get the last ounce of resolution from their music and require a
finely detailed machine specifically tailored to their musical
favourites. But for general use it will offer extremely good sound and
a whole lot of fun with a wide variety of musical styles. The perfect
addition to a decent system, in other words.

Apologize for the late reply.
The Cyrus is a formidable replacement. It sounds 3D/better layering and detail are excellent. Its a lil to the high side, not as warm as the Exposures.

Please do not delete '(Used)' from the Subject/Post Title.
