2011 KLIAV Show - Calling All Attendees 29-31 July!

The forthcoming KLIAV Show 2011 is officially open for booking on 16th March 2011.

The show falls on 29th-31st July 2011, so do put these dates down on your diary. Do come to the show and support one and only hi-fi show in Malaysia.

We decided to go for 'E.T' setup for this year. Stereo will be better for this room. We will also display Kimber Kable, XLO, SVS, Rythmik US, as well as acoustic panel products.

Ain't that one lah. Our friend's traps really cost an arm and a leg. But, it is really effective.

The one that I am selling is not membrane based traps. More like those Auralex acoustic absorption panels.

Hi guys, so the venue of the show will still be at Marriot Hotel i suppose? Noticed that the date of the show has been moved from 4th week of July (usually) to the 5th (last) week of July.

His recent second batch of acoustic panels installation must be very good for his room treatment.

RC has been a useful tool for most of us esp those couch potatoes. It is quite difficult to get the missing link. I bet not many owners want to part with it.

You never quite know when you have a 'kinky' customer with his testosterone pumped up Bending down will be quite an occupational hazard by then.

'T' is the French loudspeakers manufacturer second to Focal.

I bet you already know which brands that I am referring too.

Updates: We will have the Magellan Series, which is the flagship range of Triangle on demo during KLIAV.

Looks like the exhibitors for KLIAV 2011 pretty much confirmed. LG being confirmed the final exhibitor to take up Ballroom 2.

Those who show up at the show on Friday say sharp2 11am, would there be something like early bird/1st visitor welcoming thingy?

Actually, more curious if the show will be full swing as in some expo/exhibition if you show up early you get to see the people still unpacking their stuff and ask you to come back later.

Lastly, will there be SYT lining at the entrance with skimpy outfit to start off the race like F1 event?

Err... early bird catches the worm?

As of yesterday night, many of the exhibitors are burning the midnight oil to unpack those boxes. Some were seen putting up the stands and display shelves.

I believe that it will be completely done before tomorrow since most of them are the pioneers at KLIAV.

AFAIK, there are some SYT but not those from organizers. It is always good to cuci mata a bit eh?

Hi Maxx, where got catch worm scenerio in KLIAV? All will only "throw price" on last day so no need to take haul back to shops.... Even Desa HT don't do their lucky draw so early one....

Thinking of earlier browsing the rooms compared to Sat & Sun when it will be crowded. Even have to miss the ladies singing on Saturday & Sunday as there is no showcase on 2pm & 4pm on friday.

Hope the SYT at the corridor starts 11am Friday instead of only appearing on Sat & Sun.

Anyway, back to Hi Fi.. no more worm talk, SYT talk and "throw price" talk... or else people will "ketuk" say go show and only go for "other purpose" and have "off-track" mind... This is KLIAV not F1 with race-queens....

I have to say I am quite impressed with the exhibitors in this year's show. I believe mosy of them have finally gotten to grips with the hotel room anf how to get best sound from it. Most of the rooms deliver very nice sound. For e.g., last year's big dissapointment the CMY Clearaudio master reference sounded good thus year despite not having robert succhi here. Or perhaps because ? Hahaha. In the large room at level 4, the newer innovation was playing and even my fussy friend wif me remarked that he thought it sounded quite nice. The katina (sp ?) lived up to its legendary's designer's reputation. The electrocompaniet room was nice as well. Hiway Laser is demoing the ATC active spkrs wif its awesome bass.

To be honest, wif the great sound of our maxx audio and JoKi rooms, I had initially thought the two would walk all over the others based on last year's show. But most of the rest have clearly improved as well. Our two hero's systems ARE very good, but many others are very worth visiting as well.

There are a few dissapointments. One system i heard had totally no imaging for eg, like listening to mono ! But they are the rare exception this year.

I am very pleased with this year's show. What about the rest of you ?

The Harbeth Room caught me and wife's attention, the H3@cricket muscled by Quad components. The juice manged by a simple voltage stabilizer. Sam, was very very accomodating, playing the various Cd's.

Jennifer Warnes - Blue Raincoat... was " as though she was singing for you" emotion. My wife comments was the SQ just wraps you all over.

The next room was CMY's....a Total NAIM setup....was it boisterous....in a good way. Living up to its name.

Overall, the various vendors have their strong points but there were one or two that did not stand out as much as the rest.

Now to make plans...

I remember one forumer saying that there will be an impressive hi-res digital product launched at the show, something to that line. While there are lots of digital media players and streamers at the show, I don't really see a big focus on hi-res digital. A lot of the exhibits had good sound and many of them used digital, usually the ubiquitous CD player or CD source (played via DAC at the 'lowly' 44.1kHz mode). I wonder if I had missed something today. Anyone ?

Somethig that me and my wife were looking forward with the resurrection of LP's / TT's.

A TT as the source side by side with the CD but did not come across any rooms with this setup.

Or did I miss any room that has this setup ?

Wow....even a lady can sings praise for the Harbeth sound Interesting.

Anyway still waiting for more photos to flop in today.

Initial Listening on Fri, the PMC sys was the best I heard....

The Electrocompanient sys came in 2nd best....

Third bests though slightly dry and lean.....

Ok sound, smooth/refined/tempting highs though lacking in mid low to low spectrum- didn't sound like floorstanders but bookshelves spks

Dynamic, quite good bass though ear piercing highs, hifi sound, musical is never the word here..

Quite musical, suitable for small scale and simple music....

Quite disappointing....

As usual, rubbish or misleading bargains in the discs floor. Tagged at 100, then 20% discount for the show. Normal price anytime of the other 362 days of the year, can get at 80 or less at other shops.. good deal ah?..maybe we're ALL FOOLS!

You too noticed.....the pricing. As usual expecting visitors to be gullibel. Seen better of this AV Show / Fest in previous years.

Not sure about the rest...feel that its loosing its touch.
