Got this from the WEB, using Wood Glue. ( Evo-Stik )

http://cyberphotographer.com/recordclean...ning_2.mp4

1. Overnight after application

2. wait for the glue to go clear all over

3. Peel along the grooves rather than across them.

Worth the try...your choice.

I dare not do this as I think its a messy and tedious method. I'd rather invest in a good record cleaner for long term, quicker too. I regard these unusual methods as drastic with a sense of adventure with some fun.

Ok, if it works well for anyone, so be it, its not my precious LP's that will be worked on.

If you have rare and favourite LPs, it's wise to invest in a proper record cleaner.

Yeah... would agree its a bit "CRUDE" but looks like it meets its intended goal. The wood glue has picked up some micro stubborn particles.

Nanti the wood glue cause some in-groove damage and turn your precious LPs into some super static noise generator.... Taai Seei !(该死)

these days some people are not even recommending using isopropyl alcohol to clean lps cos the solvent may dissolve the plasticizer that keeps the vinyl in good shape.

Mugen...

On a lighter side....with the static noise... one may have developed a new CLUB Mix song....Laughing Laughing Laughing

What I read, recommend to apply a thick layer which would be much easier to peel / remove.

SF...

True.. the recommended cleaning method with alcohol solution way back is not recommended for present times. Know some old timers that still spin LP's todate still use alcohol solution...with the right mix I guess.

Until someone or company commercialize these wood glue product for LP cleaning with better method Question Similar to the "FACE MASK" for human application to remove black spots and oil...or whatever....Twisted Evil ....apply and remove after a few hours....Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy easy as 1,2,3...

If it ever gets commercialized.. it would cost you an arm and a leg to get one of these in tubes Question Wink Don't you agree....Exclamation Question

Things evolve...you never know.

Would I try it, yes. Not on my favourite LP but the second / third grade LP's that were harvested from a junk shop. Just to see, hear the results and most importantly if it can be salvaged.

There are alternatives to alcohol in the market but most people continue to stick to a proper cleaning solution and sometimes mildly mixed with alcohol. One quite famous (foreign) personality I talked to actually told us (my friends & I) that they use -pure- alcohol back in his factory and wash each record SIX times in a go ! So there are many different approaches.

If you have a record that is very noisy but which you like and can't listen due to all the noise - and normal cleaning didn't help much - then I suppose it is worthwhile to try this. I might try this method on a Carole King Tapestry LP I have which sounds good but is very dirty (I got an even better copy already so no harm if this one goes wrong).

Be aware that sometimes groove damage (from using bad catridges or badly aligned TTs) can sound somewhat similar to dirt in the groove. That one no amount of cleaning or wood glue will help.

Don't forget to apply talcum to the LP too, since I've heard some people like to apply them to TT belts too.

SF...yeap....get better SQ....smooth and good tracking.

CM...Talcum....No No.... contribute to bad SQ maybe to belt....but you may never know.......as in the case of using Talcum powder to absorb spilled oil.

To get the oil out of the LP....the endless possibilities....Laughing Laughing Very Happy

Thought of sharing....

Another alternative to "AMWAY LOC"... a product called " Vinyl & Leather" cleaner, also from the AMWAY stable ..... To which I add a certain percentage of "sterile water" to come up with the right mixture. Lots of trial and error to get the right mix.
