Electronic Crossover ??? Empty Electronic Crossover ???

Post by wabun Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:27 am

Hi, anyone know much about electronic crossover ? is it make sense to split the music to low, mid and high and use different amp to drive woofer, tweeter separately ? any advantage over the conventional bi-wiring / bi-amp ?

Electronic Crossover ??? Empty Re: Electronic Crossover ???

Hi wabun,
I own a electronic crossover model Behringer ULTRADRIVE PRO DCX2496. yes, it can mix the frequency which you like (3 input & 6 output).

You can use it for stereo input to (Right-Hi,Mid,Low & Left-Hi,Mid,Low) 6 output. Every individual output can be calibrate as your require

You also can set it as 3 channel input (Right,Left & mono sub) to (Right Hi,Mi-Low Left Hi,Mid-Low & Sub bass)

You can refer to the manual start from page22
http://www.behringerdownload.de/DCX2496/DCX2496_ENG_Rev_B.pdf

The only problems for this unit is you require to DIY some cables,
if you are using preamp for stereo input to 3 units of stereo power amp the cables you require as below

RCA to XLR female x 2nos
XLR male to RCA/XLR x 6nos

To set up the crossover, one must have some frequency knowledge example
what is Mhz @ Khz for treble, midrange, midbass, lowbass. (also what is
the frequency for vocal, dram, guitar, and most comment music equipment
use)

The sound quality is very depent on your calibrition skill. Neverteless, this is the fun unit to explore.

Some one is selling this unit as below:

Good Luck.
