i am new to naim. can i ask anyone, if you get a full naim system, do you have to match it eg. if you have a nait 3 integrated amp, is it better to get a cd3 player; if you get a nait 5i amp, is it better to get a cd5i player; certain preamps matches with certain amps and cd players and power supplies, etc etc. OR it doesn't matter, as long as they are the same generation? is there info on the internet on this?

Go to www.naim-audio.com
Look into suggested systems under products.
Just follow, based on your budget.
Play it for 3 good years and you are in seventh heaven.
This is short cut, don't waste time mix and match with different generation.

Good luck.

Also never mix pre and power combi even within the same generation. Earlier 202/200. later upgrade power to 250.2. cannot tahan, all the roughness of 202 is amplified glaringly. No choice have to get 282 pre.

naim pre & power combos are best partnered among Naim's own models.

A non-naim pre amp partnered with a Naim power-amp has a certain risk such that gives rise to instability in the Naim power amp and can even destroy the power-amp.

How is this possible? It's to do with the design of Naim's amps and something called "capacitance".
