Hi, maybe you should state your budget for the Amplifier. It is difficult to define cheap in Hifi.

Let's get technical about this, rather than plodding blindly in the dark. If you were to make an internet search for the characteristics of the MMG, there is mention about low impedances - so valve gear may not be suitable unless it was really powerful - min 70w (read high amp capable). Reasonably priced amps with high amp output these days are easy to find. You just need to ensure that the amp in question can take low impedances and for the sake of planar magnetics - high power output.

Thanks guys. Wonderful to get your responses. Should be budget rather than cheep. Yes I have scoured the Internet for all the possible candidates. Would love to get a valve pre and a ss power amp. Was looking at a Emotiva xpa 200. But the seller never responded to all my phone calls n what apps. Finally got a Destiny integrated amp with 100 watts into 8 ohms but capable of 200 into 4 ohms. (As tested by Stereophile). Wonderful to get back into music again after 20 yrs hiatus and to be able to meet such friendly ppl in this forum.

Welcome Gerald. I am from PJ actually - LSPJ alumni. Music is a great way to de stress these days, what with the traffic. Teh tarik is fine but without the mountain of sugar heaped into it please . Might want to subscribe to Spotify to access all those old - hard to find songs; rather than buy or copy. However, you need to be 'plugged' into the internet though.

Tried replying yesterday but not done. Sorry if there are duplicates. Coincidentally, we were having a beer as our golf game was halted by thunderstorms yesterday. A non audiophile was extolling the virtues of Spotify "no need to spend money on CDs ". But how good is Spotify? LPs are the best but CDs can come close. Read that WAV files are just as good as CDs too. Where does Spotify stand? Tks.

The short answer is, yes, Spotify is really good. I have in my living room, the ability to access CD (ripped  losslessly onto Mac - better sounding), vinyl and Spotify and I can hardly tell the difference in quality between CDs and Spotify. It's been said that even MP3 recordings are also good and if tested, you may not be able to tell the difference. Choose high res Spotify if it helps. Good luck then.
