Electric noise from speaker
Hi sifu here, recently i get a new naim nait 5i for my system but when i move the amplifier from my own house to my rental room, i found very clear eletric noise from the speaker which increase when i turn up the volume.i had try to move the plug to the other power socket and i found the noise greatly reduce, but still the noise loud sometime.I do contact my dealer for the problems, their solution for me is to get a power conditioner, because the power here is "dirty", which high current amplifier is sensitive with it.
Any sifu here got experience to share to solve this kind of problems?Any recommented power conditioner to get? Thanks in advance~~

Re: Electric noise from speaker
Hi Skydna,
Maybe you need to be a bit specific of the distortion you are talking about. Is it hissing sound or static charging kind of sound?
- Maybe you need to check whether the grounding part of the wall socket is properly functioning or not.
- Stacking of equipment can sometimes lead to humming. Try to put them apart, see is there an improvement.
- Worst case senario, the amp is facing problem.. some caps are going to kong...

Hi Skydna,
please do not use Richard Grey Power Co... because it will change the naim sound characteristic...
I am sure your niat5i is not due to grounding part of wall socket, is not because of stacking up your equipment, is not because of 5i caps are going to kong...
because naim equipment is durable.
Actually you can check up the naim owners manual 3.3 Mains Circuits and Cables which they say the hum sound is design that way and can cause distortion usually shares a main circuit with others household.
I think the dealer must have not much knowledge about naim equipment
Since when our power supply is "dirty", we only get unstable power supply..
Basically, i used to have experience with the hum sound, i have search around the google (it happen to superniat too)
Usually it happen to the source which have no ground, try to eart your CD player, DVD player, Tuner, Turntable etc. then you wil get the solution.
Good Luck...

Have to agree with Chewkw on this. The culprit will most probably be the earthing.
I guess the dealer is trying to make a quick sale from you. Did face the same problem with my cdp until i modified it to iec and the grounding did eliminate the faint hum.
