I was recently given an SL-10 from a former owner. Excellent condition and even comes with the original Technics MC cartridge, still useable, box and manual. However, the tonearm seems to be stuck in the rest position. Cue buttons do not move the arm assembly in either direction. The arm is NOT locked. The platter spins though. I was wondering if you could possibly know why this is so and is there a DIY method to fix it. The SL-10 blog advises owners to disassemble the arm but I'm not competent enough to do that. Many thanks in advance. Good luck with the sale.

I suspect the belt that moves the arm may need some loosening up/replacement. You may bring over to an audio repair shop to have a look. A less convenient option would be to bring over to Amcorp Mall in PJ and have CN Lim (on 1st floor) fix it for you. He is familiar with this model. Hope you find a solution soon. Cheers!
