Where to buy quality power transformer for tube amp?

Hi, anyone knows where to get quality trans in msia? Plan to diy a tube pre amp with 5687. Thanks.

If the transformer can be hidden within the chassis or potted in some manner, a custom winded (very specific specs) transformer can be done. Matter of whether agreeable or not. As long as the mains transformer is well specified and correctly wounded, its expected to perform well. Pity we don't get Hammond mains transformers here, otherwise its an excellent choice considering its with bell covers and perfect for DIY amps.

Try James or Silk. quite good review.

Edcor could probably be better.

Again, the correct voltage and current output have to be correctly specified and whether its using tube or solid state DC rectification. It'll be different HV winding for the B+. Hope you've got the spec right. Its not about guessing or simply plonking any old tranny into the circuit.

I am not sure what is the price range you are looking for. There is one company in Johor do make good power transformer and output transformer but their price is not very cheap. Just visit their web site to get more information.

friend of mine ordered the output trans from SILK Thailand, hope next week can receive. heard SILK is quite good in making trans.

Transformer is one of the least docemented product in the market.the technical details of it is not abundant and very often, tranformer alone can cost a big chunk of the amp. Transformer separates the good from the bad. Choose the best quality you can afford and you will not regret it. e.g. McCintosh tranny is not readily from other sources.

Output trans is like the heart of valve amplifier.
i 'll recommend core material from Double C-Core ->C-Core ->R-Core -> EI Core

1) EI type - Octave Electronics

Hi, just want to know if one of the output trans spoiled. do i have to change both ? or just 1 ? By the way, a mild humming sound ( can be heard fr listening position ) fr both speaker, is it a sign that my output trans "R.I.P" soon ? thx...
