Speakers with AU 111

Hi,
Have being playing with a old Sansui AU 111, matching it with an equally old Sony PS 212 TT/Rega Carbon cart with a pair of not so old Proac Ref 8. Sound wise is not what I expected, which was quite revealing but not so transparent, soundstage was quite narrow.
Which leads me here. I understand that there are a few Sansui sifus here and am seeking advise from you guys. Any suggestions on what type/kind of speakers to run with the au 111? 8 ohm or the 15 ohm varieties? Horn or Alnico cones? Musical choices are quite varied, jazz, rock, pop, classical etc.
Can help me out?
