New or Used Empty New or Used

My first post here so hope I have it in the right place...
I am wanting to upgrade my Home Theatre setup. At present I have a Philips HTS8100 which I bought just over a year ago, I now want something better but can't afford to go for the top of range kit unfortunately. Today I have been out and about and seen packages such as Karden Harmon receiver with 5.1 speaker set up and also Onkyo with same set up. Both of these packages are around RM6300 and they offered to take my Philips 8100 for RM1000 trade in. Anyone think this is a good deal - I am also thinking maybe I could go for good used equipment but problem is I think location of Kuching and most sellers are on mainland so not keen to despatch.
Be interested in any opinion or help please.

that philips is a soundbar isn't it? never had experience with those kind of setup, but i guess moving from 2.1 to 5.1 or 6.1 or even 7.1 does brings heaps of differents. harman or onkyo both have their own strength & perhaps fans of these brands can share same thoughts. im using sony ES series so i cant really share anything unless if you decide to buy sony. good luck!

In Kuching? Hmm.. There is a shop which has quite a wide variety right?
I forgot the name.. Sound Fusion or something.. cant remember exactly.

Now, your question.. new or used.. Me thinks pros and cons..
Depending on your preference. Wink

Thanks for response(s). Made contact with Sound Fusion in Kuching, also continueing to look at used gear but location definitely a problem, AV gear is not the ideal thing to 'travel', speakers are almost definitely out due to inconvenience and cost but will keep open mind. Anyone in Kuching with Receiver/Speakers etc wanting to sell can pm me, I will always seriously consider.

Just my opinion...

Air Asia has promotions very often.
If you happen to get a good second hand deal but in Peninsular, you can also take a cheap flight and hand carry it back.
Some more this way you can view the item personally before you buy. Smile
