Apogee Centaur Major Speakers
I'm pleased to stumble across this thread.
I own a pair of the bigger brother of the Apogee Centaur range, the Major. It has been part of my system over 15 years.
During this period and before it, I've owned several speakers from KEF, B&W, ATC to AE, TDL, Audiostatic (electrostatic) but the Apogees remain the speaker of the day in my setup.
Despite its age (1991-1994), it has given me enormous pleasure during its ownership and has never given me any trouble.
The 40″ ribbon tweeter that covers the high frequency and mid range, produces one of the most open and transparent sound I've ever heard (except electrostatic). Electrostatic speakers is a pain to own due to the inherit membrane problem over time.
Despite it is a hybrid, the Centaur Major 10" woofer is fast and work well with the ribbons. It provides me a good and adequate solid bass for the type of music I listen to.
I listen to a lot of jazz, classical, soul and RnB. The Apogees reproduce wind and strings instrument to a frightening degree of realism (especially with tube amps).
I use Audio Research for my amplification, the LS2 Pre and a pair of their Classic 120 Mono Block Power Amp. The tube amplification opens the sound stage even further, low, wide and high!
I have also tried using non tube amp like the Musical Fidelity A370 (old 80s classic amp) with great success.
I mainly listen to CD/SACD (Sony SCD777ES player and vinyl (Linn LP12 turntable with Lingo, Ekos arm and Van den Hul MC-Two cartridge.
It would be great to hear from previous and current owners of their experience!

Apogee Duette and Stage Electrostatic speakers
Hi Good Afternoon. I am the owner of Apogee Stage and Duette Signature. My Personal opinion, they are the best sounding in the World. When I play audio the Subwoofer are always off.
I have many other High End Speakers over the years and not even one come close. A friend walk pass my Hi-Fi room believing a live performance. The singer is in the room!
My Amplification are Krell 200S and AR Reference 3 driving the Duette and BAT VK500 and BAT 3 driving the Stage. All my cables are Nordost SPM, Audio Quest etc. Subwoofer are Paradigm Signature Sub, SVS and Sunfire True Sub. Using CEC CD Transport and Audio Note DAC 4 Signature.

Re: Apogee speaker community
Hope so. Their restoring price are too high. Australia is the better choice but shipping increase the cost!!! U need to crate the speakers for protection.
