AIME Audio's SE-P12 integrated amplifier... 30 years in the making

WHAT do you get when you distil a lifetime's worth of experience into a hi-fi product? Well, that would be the AIME SE-P12 integrated amplifier, an actualisation of Audio Image Musical Experience founder (AIME) Adrian Wong's 30-plus years of knowledge.

"We wanted to provide an integrated amplifier that provided great performance in an uncompromising package. It involves everything we know about amplification from our larger amplifiers in a single-box package," said Wong.

The SE-P12 almost didn't come to be – primarily because of the cost involved – but with the soaring prices of international brands, Wong felt it was the right time to bring his ideas to life. Working in tandem with a team of top local technicians, AIME created the SE-P12, a product touted to rival the best in the market.

The integrated amplifier is meticulously handcrafted and only built in small batches, with each unit taking weeks to assemble. The chassis is constructed entirely from aluminium, with extensive shielding within to separate its preamp stage from its toroidal transformer-based power section.



The amp puts out 120 watts into 8 ohms (200W/4 ohms) and can easily drive any high-end speaker pair connected to its milled brass speaker terminals.

The SE-P12's volume pot is completely stepless, and it also features three RCA inputs, a balanced input and even preamp out terminals. Other functions include a phase shift and a large display to show operation modes.

Its asking price? A mere RM9,000, which is a snip when you consider the sonic quality it offers.
