If u are adventurous maybe u may like to try some 'not so strictly CDP' such as some DVD players. But probably u may want to have someone mod it for more mileage. Just a thought.

eg. the pioneer dvd 310, 330........?

Even if it doesn't turn out to your expectations, it is still some listening experience. I bought a unit to try out(listen) in my own rig........I'm still keeping the unit........think it has some potentials.....and the questions arised as to how to get the max out of it, and is the max good enuf for my ears? Get a used Rega Apollo, it is around your budget. It already sounds good without modding.

sskong,

I am letting go of my rega Apollo. Please refer to the hifi for sale section. Price negotiable of course.

Yes. Sub RM2000 CDP, cant beat the Rega. Well technically the Rega is sub RM3000. But 2nd hand you can get cheaper. For brand new, go for Marantz CD6003.

I also recommend a new Marantz CD6003. Had a Rega Apollo before and not all that impressed by it. Alternatively, NAD C545BEE.
