Re: Castle Harlech S2 speakers (Used) SOLD
This pair of bi-wired speaker is well built, solid and mirrored/matching veneer pair.
It is constructed based on (tapered) quarter wave tube (TQWT/QWT) designs and are also known
as Voight Pipes.
Internally, the speaker box is divided/separated into half by a plank to create a "horn" effect.
The frequencies from the driver facing upward and front driver are separated
in order to avoid frequencies distortion and overlay within the speaker's box.
The entire pipe is seen as a tapered transmission line in inverted form.
It is widening rather than narrowing from top to bottom.
The "horn" port is at the bottom, covered by the speaker's plinth.
The sound from this speaker is warm and open.
Vocal and bass separation are controlled and layered.
Other speaker's designers such as PHI and Cain & Cain adopt this design.
It is evidenced in speakers like Beauhorn, B&W Nautilus and Loth-X.
So now, the speaker has found a new owner and home.
Congrats.
Happy listening and enjoy it.
