Veneer for DIY speaker box

Hi guys...

Any one got any idea where can I get carpenter to wrapped a layer of veneer for my DIY speaker box.

May b a picture worth thousand word.....

I will show my DIY speaker box...where can I get a Veener over it.

Various types of real wood veeners are available in a shop near
Pearl Point shopping centre off Jln Klang Lama. Cannot remember the name
but is walking distance from Pearl Point. Not expensive but
difficult to do, especially when you have rounded edge box design
as shown in your photographs.

Yeah it's quite difficult to veneer curved boxes. Even if you successfully done it I doubt it will be reliable in the long run.
Perhaps it's better to send it to a car body shop and have automotive primer + spray + bake over it. Use black looks quite macho.

This is my current box. I have sticked some looks like veener type of sticker from Jusco. But the results not impressive. Thus asking where can do the veeneering.

I give the credit to the sprayer ha ha... all in all it's just below RM300. Cheap la. The finishing is durable too.
I think for your small bookshelf you should be able to get away with RM100..
Before this spray job I also did that plastic veneer just like you. I sticked it and use a hair dryer to heat up the plastic veneer and then smooth out the surface. Looks acceptable and clings nicely. But after seeing the finishing of the automotive spray, heck, I should have done it in the 1st place.

2. Is there specific M'sia forum for DIY Speakers enthusiasts?

I am fairly interested to get myself into this field and build something that suit my listening needs.....

As for the Veneer, there are many specialist shops that are selling stuff related to kitchen cabinet accessories and a quick stroll along Jalan Ipoh may net you a few shops.

They have contact details of shops or freelance carpenters.
