McCormack DNA 225 Power Amplifier (sold)
Selling the above great amplifier & you may find in the internet
lots of great review i.e http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/545/
"Extended listening confirmed that the
DNA-225 was definitely more accurate and did not lack anything in the
midbass or slam departments. It was taut and powerful at the extreme
bottom, sounding more like the estimable Bryston 7B-ST than the old
DNA. The reduction of DC gain and use of a DC blocking cap seem not to
have made an iota of compromise in the bass response"- stereophile.com
McCormack of the USA is well-known for their outstanding audio components. For many years they have been manufacturing preamps, amps and CD players that offer excellent sound quality at reasonable prices that often out-perform other offerings in thier price range. This is particularly true of their power amps.
Make sure to check out the specification pages and see what a truly outstanding powerhouse of an amp this is, how it easily and politely it exceeds its power ratings! This amp also offers finesse as well as power, and never sounds harsh.
The DNA 225 provides 225 watts at 8 ohms, 440 watts at 4 ohms and huge headroom. The eyebrow raiser was John Atkinson's measurements:
"With a low-duty-cycle 1kHz toneburst, which generates results that more closely resemble what happens when the amplifier is amplifying music, the DNA-225 was revealed as a powerhouse.... No less than 303W were raised into 8 ohms (black trace), with 575W available into 4 ohms (red), 1018W into 2 ohms (blue), and 1532W into 1 ohm "...and:
"But that's not the end of the story. I plotted this graph using a decibel vertical scale rather than the usual percentage scale, which more clearly shows what happens at high powers. The McCormack actually clips very gently, meaning that to pick the 1% THD point is more arbitrary than with an amplifier that hard-clips. Under real-world conditions into low impedances, the DNA-225 rolls up its sleeves and puts out serious current—more than 40A into 1 ohm!"
So, the DNA 225 can handle low impedance loads, and will drive hard-to-get-along-with speakers like Apogees and full-range electrostats than can dip into 2 ohm and 1 ohm territory that cause lesser amps to whimp-out and shut themselves down!
225wpc can drive virtually any speakers
Condition 9/10, box
& manual included
