Late Night Jazz, Wee Hour Swing! (Audiophile Grade) Lot of 4 Cds (3 New + 1 Lightly Used) SOLD SOLD! Thx!
The Following Items are Sold as a Lot (Individual Request are not valid)
Jazz, from Dawn to Dusk; starts with the mellifluous trumpet and flugelhorn of balkan jazzman Dusko Goykovich, to Enja Record's
Ballads Vol.3 consisting of some of it's best musicians with songs cut to fit the perfect night filled with stars, Jacky Terrasson takes you
to Paris, with his album "A Paris" pays tribute to the city of love and its yester-year songsters, Terrasson covers Edith Piaf,Jacques Brel
and even Django Reinhardt so effortlessly but with his unique sparkle on the piano, this lot is wrapped with the last copy found in our
warehouse of pianist Cedar Walton's Jazz Quartet under the HighNote USA label, featuring the gifted saxophonist Vincent Herring,
Drummer Kenny Washington and Upright Bassist David Williams, West Coast Cool at its best, what a swinger! - Quinta Ruban
1.Dusko Goykovich - In My Dreams (Enja Records - Made in Germany)
Sedated but not watered down, In my dreams is Dusko's after hour's affair with jazz accompanied by the Bob Degan Trio,
must be mentioned here that, this album owe's its success worldwide due to its unique arrangement that brings out the absolute
finesse in not only in its melodic phrases but equally refined harmonic structures, one of our best selling Cds ever,
once again, great sounding record from Enja Records, last copy, new and sealed.
2.Various - Ballads 3 (Enja Records - Made in Germany)
This audiophile compilation showcases some of the best talents in jazz, from the European Jazz label Enja, late night numbers from
Melissa Walker, Abdullah Ibrahim,Antonio Farao and many others catapult you to a new form of jazz, that is both sophisticated and
serene (This CD comes with a full coloured printed catalog containing Enja Records line of albums) Factory Sealed and New
3.Jacky Terrasson - A Paris (Blue Note - Made in U.S.A)
A Paris is packed with new and varied ideas that work, not to mention passionate, fiery playing throughout.Only the last two tracks are originals, the fewest ever on a Terrasson album. "Rue de Lombards," a funk fragment that sounds like an in-studio improvisation,
is credited to Terrasson, drummer Terreon Gully, and bassist Remi Vignolo. The rest of the tracks are Terrasson's highly personal
readings of songs from French culture. Most will not be familiar to American listeners, with the possible exception of "La Marseillaise"
-- the French national anthem -- and the Edith Piaf classic "La Vie en Rose," played in a calypso feel by Terrasson and percussionist Minino Gara.Guitarist Bireli Lagrene's cameos on the bluesy title track and the swinging "Que Reste-T'Il de Nos Amours?" are nothing short of brilliant. The latter, which bears an uncanny likeness to Lerner & Loewe's "Almost Like Being in Love," features Terrasson on
Fender Rhodes electric piano. Saxophonist Stefano di Battista also makes two fine appearances, playing tenor on the fast, tense "Jeux Interdits" and soprano on the lively and pretty "L'Aigle Noir," one of the two originals. Both Lagrene and Battista return for the brief, full company finale, an intoxicating funk line by Terrasson titled "Métro". Drummer Leon Parker and Bassist Uggano Ukegwo accompany Terrasson in only american standard in this album which is Cole Porter's "I Love Paris", Terrasson has pulled off something rare:
a concept album that succeeds on a variety of creative levels. In the process, he's given exposure to several excellent European musicians, not to mention some beautiful French music that audiences ought to hear.NEW and Sealed.
4.Cedar Walton Quartet - The Promise Land (High Note Records - Made in U.S.A)
Few would debate pianist Cedar Walton's significance in jazz. With this release, the artist continues to utilize the
efforts of Alto Saxophonist Vincent Herring and bassist David Williams, while Kenny Washington inherits the chair once held by the late drummer Billy Higgins. Therefore, as one might surmise, Walton's eloquence and artisanship is once again prominently exhibited on his latest group led effort.
On the opener and title piece, "Promise Land," the quartet bases its soulful vibe upon Herring's unruffled phraseology and memorably
melodic hook. Moreover, Herring's lilting flute passages during the samba tinged "N.P.S" perpetuates a gala outlook, amid Walton's
beautifully constructed solos and effective comping. Moderate swing vamps prevail throughout, as the band often conjures up
remembrances of the 60's West Coast jazz scene, due to Herring's breezy passages and the leader's fluent mode of execution.
Walton demonstrates his soft touch and articulately executed lyricism on the standard "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," while Herring pours
his soul into the grand scheme of things via his clear toned lines and compassionate interpretation of the main theme.
Walton's joyous musical spirit is candidly articulated on The Promise Land.
