CDX is step up player for CD3.5, making it more up beat and boogie than the CD3.5. Adding the TeddyXPS would make the CDX a beast on steroids .

Cdx plays very much close to live like sounds, overtime it may wore on ears especially on a bad recording which will ripping ears off with sharped razor,adding an external power would greatly tamed the RAWNESS, if you can pick the teddyXPS [ better cost] at the expense of involvement with the music.

Many forum members prefer to use it with XPS, also believing that its musical ability remains unequalled by later Blackbox standalone players.

The CD5i-2 did almost all of the "hi-fi" things a lot better than the CDX but far more artificial,more detailed etc. Musically however, it was a giant step backwards.
