DIY Custom Tube Headphone Amp (SOLD) Empty DIY Custom Tube Headphone Amp (SOLD)

Post by CH Liew Sat Jan 19, 2013 11:57 pm

Hi all,

Am letting go my custom built transformer-coupled tube headphone amp, built by a very good tube specialist from up North.

This is a one-off amp he built for me, the first for him as it uses twin EL34 as power tubes. Essentially, this is a speaker amp but with modifications to the circuitry to suit headphone impedances. Used it to drive my Hifiman HE-6 orthodynamic headphones with great results - lush mids, sparkling highs and punchy lows. Worked equally well with the more sensitive Sennheiser HD555 and Grado RS1. This amp is very versatile and it could be your be all and end all tube amp for your reference headphones, be it dynamic or planar magnetic/orthodynamic.

Details :-

1 x 5Z3P Rectifier tube
2 x 6N9P Input tubes
