Orcas are true high efficiency speakers, needing as little as 2 watts from a tube amplifier to bloom their entire wall of sound. They can fill large listening spaces yet they possess an inherent purity of sound that can be enjoyed close up, even at distances of less than an arm's length away.

With their unconventionally wide high frequency dispersion angle, the virtual point source fullrange drivers produce a clear and unwavering presentation of the actual space a recording was made in and produce satisfying bass at high or low volume levels, with or without the Orca Subs.

Recommended amplification:
Many SET tube amplifiers sound beautiful with the Orcas (particularly the 45, 2A3, 300B, EL84, EL34, etc.). However, they generally need at least a 2A3 (3.5WPC) to fill up an average living room.

A great sounding solid state or digital amplifier up to 100WPC is also a nice pairing, and the Orcas will display the unique strengths of those amplifiers. It's difficult to damage the Orcas' drivers unless you are really trying, but it does become possible above 10WPC output, so please exercise care and common sense with the volume knob when using powerful amplifiers.
