This amplifier is insanely powerful, the dynamic swings are incredible. David Hafler was way ahead of his time with this one. Direct coupled with no capacitors in the signal path.

Unique EXCELINEAR circuit allows you to tailor the amp to YOUR speakers. These amps can almost drive a dead short.

 It is in good condition and it performs excellently… It is conservatively rated at 305w/ch at 8ohm 450w/ch at 4ohm it also has a bridge switch in the back which will allow you to run it in mono.

This power amp is truly an iron fist in a velvet glove. It mixes sheer power with subtlety and finesse. It is insanely powerful and the dynamic swings are incredible. David Hafler was way ahead of his time with this one. Direct coupled with no capacitors in the signal path. Unique EXCELINEAR circuit allows you to tailor the amp to YOUR speakers.

As a follow up to the X L280 power amplifier Hafler released this new, more powerful model, the XL600. Hafler's "excilinear" concept of near-zero phase-shift circuitry, offering a linear transfer characteristic under both static and dynamic conditions, is further refined in this amplifier. It employs a double-differential J-Fet push-pull cascoded input and current-mirroring second stage, driving 16 lateral MosFet output devices to provide 360 Watts continuous power into 8 Ohms (900 Watts into I Ohm) for less than 0.05 per cent total harmonic distortion. Some 30dB less overall feedback is used compared with previous Hafler designs yet it remains completely stable. Entirely separate power supplies are used after the mains transformer (72,000uF of smoothing in all), with a further supply for the low-level stages. The heatsink is cooled by a proportional speed fan.



As I say, this amp has served me superbly. It has a slightly obtrusive fan noise when in full operation and for this reason I have always preferred to site it under the stairs on in a different room away from where the sound of the music is enjoyed.
This is obviously a personal choice and probably not essential to everyone!
