INTRODUCTION
 

The BX5s offer performance comparable to much more expensive speakers through great design and innovative technologies. The 2.5-way design features two 140mm drivers and a 25mm tweeter, which utilise cones made of C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium), a material originally developed for jet engine components. The sound is detailed and clean as the cones' characteristics eliminate distortion and the bass/midrange drivers are each fastened with a single bolt, which cuts the vibration transmitted to the cabinet.

With stylish design, innovative features and great music performance the Monitor Audio Bronze BX5s are gorgeous 5 star speakers which produce an awesome sound.

Given an upbeat piece of music, the Monitor Audio's are a thrill a minute to listen to and their timing and pace are extremely enjoyable. Given the relatively small cabinets, the bass response is impressive in both depth and presence and this low end underpins performances and imparts considerable authority. This is aided by the lack of "honking" or colouration from the bass ports.
Given more relaxed music, the BX5 never truly loses its slightly boisterous side, but equally could never be called dull or uninteresting and the assured timing means that even complex pieces stay very cohesive and easy to follow.”   TechRadar  4.5 Star

The ability to Bi-wire the Bx5's is a bonus and does make a difference, so does the supplied foam bass port bungs for fine tuning them to their surroundings. Looking great with and without grilles, sound wise they match their looks. I use them about 50/50 for music and movies, and they handle both with ease. After a period of running-in the bass seemed to tighten up and deepen leaving the sub (which i only use on movies) to handle just the very lowest sofa moving bass.
