10" DIY OB speaker
My hands started to feel itchy after i got hold of a pair of big 10" full ranger.
Having chatted with a speaker guru and a quick glance at the DIY project pictures posted in the web, decided to explore the long wanted OB project myself.

Drivers are from the Magna Acoustica speakers, according to source they were modified (coated with special resin) CH250 supplied by a French raw speaker manufacturer Ciare.

Paper Specifications are pretty impressive for a 10 incher with a claimed frequency range from 60-18khz and capable to handle 150 watts. Efficiency is high at 96db meaning small tube or monster solid state amps can also be paired with.
Sounds interesting enough! lets play.

To minimized the front and back waves phase cancellation in narrow baffle, i install folded wings at the sides.

The 2 wings are not equal in widths, 1 side is 4" and another is 5" in mirror image. The difference allows me to play with positioning and toe-in or swap left right for tuning.

Drivers mounted, undergoing tuning in the listening room at the moment. Will update later.
I bought the solid wood piece from a furniture factory.

Re: 10" DIY OB speaker
Initial listening session summarized as below:
The first thing that struck me was the enormous soundstage they throw out extending at least 3' to the left and to the right side of the speakers.
It has also a reasonable top to bottom frequency extension to be considered a real fullrange speakers.
However the soundstage lacks depth and the overall tonality leans toward to the bright side due to the driver's frequency bump in upper midrange as expected. I know this can be corrected easily using damping materials or perhaps a simple notch filter in the line.
I am very happy with the initial performance and feels rewarding enough to further improve them.
Associated equipments in the initial testing:
Pioneer CDP
Yaqin tube buffer
Audiolab intergrated
