The B-2101 is about the last model in the long legacy of great power amps produced by Sansui. The B/C series introduced new advanced circuitry design and features for accurate reproduction of digital sound. Advertising for the series stated that it would appeal primarily to the few who can hear and appreciate sonic subtleties and that elusive concept known as “musicality.” Specifications for this amp are listed below and those numbers support the high quality of this amplifier. 

Among its features are: "X-Balanced" circuitry meaning every circuit from input to output is balanced to eliminate random noise (distortion) from the ground cicuit. “Diamond Differential” circuitry allows the amp to have a slew rate measurement of +/- 350V/uSec. This figure signifies that transient intermodulation distortion is about non-existant. Head room in this amp is amazing and allows for effortless instantaneous response without strain or distortion. In the world of digital sound that is huge. "Twin-mono" construction with three power supplies keep each channel physically and electrically separated. 

The B-2101 is on of the few Sansui power amps that addresses difficult speaker loads. It easily drives speakers that dip to 2 ohms delivering 680 watts per channel of instantaneous power at 2 ohms. I’ve used this amp with Magnepan planar and Apogee ribbon speakers and in both the sound was sweet and extremely detailed. Never brittle or cool. Protection circuitry in this amp is sensitive to low speaker impedence and the amp had no problem dealing with these loads. 

On the front panel are 4 push buttons for choosing speaker systems A and/or B, meter function as power level VU or peak hold, and meter display ON/OFF, and separate R/L channel output level controls. 

Sonically the amplifier performs very well and without issues. Reading great specification figures is fine but, the real test always comes from listening. The B-2101 sounds wonderfully warm and detailed especially when listening to voice, acoustical instruments, and complex combinations of orchestral, choral, and opera. Stereo imaging can be amazing. The sound is pure Sansui and is never tiresome
