Refoaming Speaker Driver

Hi guys,

I'm new here. The outer rubber foam of my speaker driver has ripped apart due to old age.  

Anyone know where I can purchase a refoaming kit for my 3 inch speaker driver ? Anyone providing such refoaming service ?

Do they have shop selling audio parts in Jalan Pasar ? I only know they have shops selling electronics parts.

it depends, but just look at the foam/rubber surrounding, if it is convex or concave, i.e inverting

I had experience to refoam an old sub-woofer driver or replace it with the original replacement part.  I did the later and never regretted that.  A few years ago, my NHT 2.9 tweeter went bad and I sent it to a speaker repairman for rebuild (recoil) - it never sounded the same again.  I ended up ordering the OEM tweeter and was very happy with it.  The recoil was a waste of money.

If you can get the OEM driver, compare the price or refoam vs OEM driver replacement.  Unless you refoam with the original speaker driver repair kit, it will never sound the same again.

Try search on Ebay the speaker foam surround. But u need to measure the size first. There will be 4 measurement of diameters from inside to outside.

Last time I did it myself. Need to work very carefully

They can re-foam almost all sizes.
