The active LS1 pre-amplifier goes far beyond other line-stage pre-amplifiers in musicality, technical innovation, quality of manufacture - it's pure Audio Research!  Far from being expensive, it's performance is near "an esoteric ideal" (re: ARC's own description).  The LS1 uses Audio Research's innovative hybrid tube-solid state circuit technology, premium parts and quality manufacture.
