NAD 2700 THX-certified stereo power amplifier.  In my opinion, one of the best 2-channel amps NAD has made.  The 2700 THX was NAD's top-of-the-line amp in the early to late 90's and puts out a very conservative 150 watts/channel into 8 ohms. It can be bridged to create 400 watts mono.

This amp has the typical NAD build quality, overload circuitry, and smooth output controls. Also typical of NAD, this 2700 has an enormous amount of headroom.  I can’t explain in technical terms how much that helps sound reproduction but it makes a huge difference in the sound.  This amp seems to have more reserve than most NAD amps.  

I have owned the amp for quite a while and used it in a few configurations.  But I liked it best in a simple stereo setup, driving my most needy speakers.  It can drive low impedances (as low as 2 ohms) and has NAD’s “soft clipping” circuitry.  As mentioned above, the amp can be bridged to be capable of putting out 400 Watts into a single channel but I never ran it bridged.  

One other feature worth noting is the gain controls on the front of the amp.  I found them very useful to control volume when I didn’t have a preamp available – although I suggest you use a good quality preamp – and to balance out room dynamics.

Reproducing musical signals, the NAD 2200 routinely delivers over 500 watts per channel into typical loudspeaker impedances.

In actual measurement with speakers of complex impedance and lower-than-average sensitivity, the 2200 produces peak sound pressure levels exceeding 115 dB SPL(Sound Pressure Level) in a medium to large room, with no audible or measurable distortion.
But in size, heat dissipation, and cost, the NAD 2200 is similar to many other amplifiers rated at only 100 watts per channel.

For audiophiles who can use and appreciate its capability, the 2200 is unquestionably the best-buy power amplifier ever manufactured.
