Fostex FT17H for Tannoy 611 Empty Fostex FT17H for Tannoy 611

Post by Syed Wed Mar 22, 2017 12:20 pm

Hi,
Recently, I have bought a pair of Fostex FT17H tweeters to compensate my Tannoy 611's which is a bit dull in high freq. I intend to use L-pad attenuators for the tweeters. Please, do anyone know where to get them locally? It's a frustrating to buy them online as Part express does not ship them to Malaysia.
Thank you.

Syed

Hare are some DIY speaker suppliers that you might want to try -

Of-course, eBay is worth searching for what you want as well....

I have a pair of Tannoy 609. The 609 is comparatively dull even when new but you can listen for long hours without fatique. Partner with bright or transparent amp. Another reason why it is dull is because i think the ferror-fluid has dried up abit. I overcome the problem by changing the attenuator (resistor) to the tweeter. A 0.5ohm decrease in the resistor value should be sufficient. The 611 I believe is quite similar to the 609.

Thank you very much indeed vt4c, I hope could make direct order from one of them. And also thanks to you too hk5007, that sure is a good suggestion. However, I have already bought the fostex, looks like I have to proceed with project. Anyway if I can't get my hands on the L-pad, maybe need to switch to plan B, changing to lower resistors.
And thanks to mierock for your suggestion. I find this thread has given me some hope now. Let's see how it turns up. Thanks again guys.
