Looks like I have to bro coz I don't think anyone here has one except the seller Edwin la haha but maybe he also never try.
They said the CD3 tubes 6SN7 is way better sonically than the previous two. Hope they right.

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
Don't think you can get new unit at 3.5k but 2nd hand maybe. That thing is heavy. You can try to ask Edwin or Kakibook.

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
if rm3.5k sounds not good, then that $750 deal off ebay is cheap, only rm$2.4~2.5k. but that does not count the tax right?

dang that's one expensive cap haha.
Can ask them to under declare the value. Always works if item not too heavy. If heavy item custom always check coz shipping cost alone eligible for tax already.

[quote="- br@d -"]wingman,
My tube amp is Bewitch 6550 modified, also known in the UK as Puresound A30. Can run KT88 tubes as well.
Hi br@d,
Did you mean you bought a Bewitch 6550 and modified it so that it can also run KT88 tubes? I have a Bewitch KT88 and would like to try 6550 tubes. Any advice?

If not mistaken 6550 and KT88 are interchangeable. No need to modify anything.

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
Hywong,
I bought a kt88 bewitch, changed the tubes to 6550. The mods did not involve any bias to the amp. No worries with kt88 and 6550 in the bewitch as it's interchangeable.
I would prefer not to manual/force bias the amp as I tube roll the 6550 tubes and KT88 on some occasion.

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
Thanks arremie, br@d.
br@d, you changed 4 caps to mundorf silver gold oil for 1K. Thats an expensive mod for a 3.5K amp. Was the improvement easily noticeable and in what ways. Whats the main difference between KT88 and 6550 sound?

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
Hywong,
The changes was indeed noticeable, open/spatial and better depth was the first impression. Further listening I find that it has a Lush midrange, tighter bass and an overall improvement in clarity compared to the Solen MKP caps. When you reach 200 to 300 hours, the caps just sounds better.
I have to agree that its not your average price caps but worth the money in my opinion. Saved a few months and eating maggie mee for that particular upgrade caps.
Truthfully in the beginning I did fear it would not justify price vs sound but 1 year later - I'm a happy camper
If you are at a budget, I would recommend the "Obbligato" or the "Sonicap" capacitors.
6550 vs KT88 on the bewitch
It depends on which brand or types of Tubes you are using.
EHKT88 has a better bass and high extension, good for fast pieces of music such as the Hawaii five O theme,
Tung Sol Cyrotube 6550 Lush Mid-range , Better depth and excellent for vocals.
These are the only 2 tubes I have used for the Bewitch and cannot comment on the other brands. Dont forget to change your smaller tubes on the bewitch.
I hope this helps you along your way on enjoying your Bewitch. May it bring you hours of satisfaction as it did for me after a little mod here and there along the way

Tuan Arremie
Yes I agree with you its better. Change the driver tubes first
Changing the rectifier tubes has its benefits as well & does make a sonic difference from what I have experienced vs the original chinese ones. Nevertheless , one can opt to swap the rectifier in the future.

Yes I have all original Chinese tubes with either EH or Tungsol. I think the RCA and other tube brands are rather expensive for the price point of the amp. Wondering if anyone here has modded the Bewitch to use the Border Patrol power supply for "Ongaku" quality sound.

Re: Yaqin tube buffer
Don't forget tax (25% ??). Also add the cost of modifying the amp. At the end you have an ugly unknown amp costing 15K which probably cannot sell. Don't sound feasible.
