No HICAP, NO Musics

The Naim HiCap is probably second only to the NAP250 in terms of Naim fame. It’s been a mainstay of Naim amplification since the early 1980s, surviving in a very similar form through the three generations of Naim styling - Chrome bumper, Olive and Classic.
Essentially, the HiCap is a ‘high capacity’ power supply that’s essential for powering some Naim products and highly desirable for others.

Providing a dedicated, high quality current supply to the pre-amp really does ‘clean up’ the sound, making subtle nuances in the music easier to hear clearly. Unless you go straight to the SuperCap model, this really is the first port of call for any Naim amp upgrade.
It will power the following Naim products;
All phono pre-amps
All active crossovers

All pre-amps (except NAC252/52 and above)
SUPERNAIT/SUPERNAIT II
NAT05 XS tuner
CD3.5, CD5/X/XS

This Mark 2 ‘Classic’ model is the ideal match for NAC202 or NAC282 pre-amps but I’ve also been using it with an ‘Olive’ NAC82 and it’s worked exceptionally well.



If you’re running a NAC102 or NAC202 and deciding between a NAPSC or HiCap I can say that the HiCap makes a much more noticeable improvement to the sound - especially at second-hand prices.
