Meridian MCD
High quality compact disc player / CD player from Philips 101(clone)

Cult player from the 80s,solid and hell-built solid to last .
Technical condition: The device is fully functional. Sometimes the CD stops after few tracks. sometime it is showing you her temper, what you need is be patient with her, finally she rewards you closer to LP aliked sound ,but without inherit any weaknesses of LP playback system .

The MCD player impresses with its excellent workmanship. heavily modified/upgraded  by meridian genius to an extend No any CD100/101 in the world can sleep together in same bed . The tracking time is so much faster than 1st Gen. Don't be fool , it has ceramic 1540D which are proven to be more "concentrate" vocal accents than "plastic" type player, No any 1541s be it dual crown or triple crown could trounce it in term of "vocal" perspective.

cosmetic condition: The device is run hot (like most class A amp-fear) optically in a used condition with normal signs of wear / scratches ,the  paint is serious flaked due to high- heat get toasted ,black coating (Nextel) is worn by aging exposed to heaty case. ,what u want is sounds. No appearances!
This is a Grandma Player, and everlasting sound quality rival any modern pis of equipment for musicality & Reliability ,finally your hearing wont get damaged.

All for asking Rm2999.50

Meridian MCD(used) Mcd10

commercially available stand alone CD players from around 1984, and its certainly built like a tank! Its just ludicrously heavy and over engineered. Even the CDM1 chasis appears to be one solid lump of metal

I've tried a few CD's/Chinese black CD/CDRs in it, and it seems to be happy to play whatever i've thrown at it.

The MCD's innards were a different matter. The output stages were rebuilt, and the servo and error-correction systems were tinkered with.
This resulted in a player with a sweet and musical sound, tidy with low frequencies and good with scale.Meridian MCD(used) Apvfsx10

Its not ordinary CD100/101. This is a Hard-hardcore steroid version

PLAY from COLD right power is ON! All tracking related symptom has GONE, after done a full kondenser replacement, now a new breath of  life, only outlook deteriorates with ages, just like us.

The player’s original swing-arm CDM mechanism was a masterpiece, one of the best ever CD transports and massively over engineered, The Philips CDM is the ONLY CD mechanism of the EVERLAST kind.

The TD1540 DAC wasn’t half bad either, despite offering only 14-bit word lengths, and it came with an excellent filtering that was far less intrusive than some. The bass of this  machine is superlative, massively strong and tuneful!
Its sound may not be pure or perfect, but sure is pleasant and long-lasting and Musical.

This is not an "hifi" product.
hifi is for those who "analyse" sounds not for "listening" to music
