THX Dominus-level PerListen speakers and subwoofers now at Centre Circle Audio

THE name PerListen is an abbreviation of "perceptual listening experience", and this speaker manufacturing company based in the USA is taking on extreme challenges. Formed some years ago by a team of experienced engineers with a few decades of experience in the audio industry, PerListen's aim at the start was to meet the highest and most stringent home theatre specs set by THX - Certified Dominus. Apparently, it is the only company that currently meets the THX Certified Dominus standard for speakers and subwoofers!

- THX Certified Dominus is the closest approximation to a public cinema experience that you can achieve in your own home. Products in this performance class are built for larger spaces with multiple rows of tiered seating at a greater distance from the screen.

- THX Certified Dominus products must meet unique performance requirements in order to achieve cinematic output levels in a large home theatre. The system must have a high dynamic range and play very loudly without sacrificing any clarity in listening rooms and the largest of home theatres.

PerListen speakers and subs, now available in Malaysia through Centre Circle Audio, are ideal for use with immersive surround formats and two-to-three rows of seating and are optimal for rooms up to 184 cubic metres with a viewing distance of up to six metres. These speakers provide an additional 6dB output over THX Certified Ultra systems. Yes, they're excellent for hi-fi use as well.



The speakers use a patent-pending DPC waveguide technology, beryllium tweeters, and the "lightest carbon fibre technology on the planet." And the active subwoofers have enough muscle for even the most rigorous use.

"At the core of our amps is a 32-bit ARM processor to control innovative technologies like real-time temperature status, current and voltage monitoring, fault detection, and performance diagnostics evaluated at more than a 1000 times a second. All of this to make sure that our 1.5kW and 3kW amplifiers are always in control even well below 20Hz.  The end result is low distortion bass for the finest details with the dynamic range to meet the highest transients without compression."




The subs also have an app for bass management.

Centre Circle Audio's proprietor Nelson Chia explains why the company brought it PerListen.

The PerListen HT set-up on demo at Centre Circle comprises the R5t front speakers, S7c centre speaker, S4s surround units and D215s/D12s subwoofers. Powering the system are the Lyngdorf MP60.2 processor and Parasound HALO Class A/AB surround amplifier (A52+).

A stereo demo setup will feature the flagship S7t and R5t speakers, with the Parasound JC5 stereo power amp and HiFi Rose RS150 streamer, linked using Purist Audio Design Musaeus wires.
