Sold Pioneer N70A Streamer/DAC
Top of the line Streamer-DAC from Pioneer.
Excellent sound: detailed, clear, very good sound stage and smooth non fatiguing sound. Perfect for jazz/blues, vocals, acoustic and classical music.
Well designed:
1. Separate power supplies for digital and analogue sections.
2. Three separate compartments for power supply, digital and analogue circuitry to prevent signal contamination.
3. 8ch Parallel Drive SABRE32 Ultra DAC (ES9016S x 2)
4. XLR and RCA Outputs.
5. Heavy (12kg) like an amplifier.
6. Built to last.
7. Hi-res certified
8. DSD sounds really good.
9. Like all steamers, a lot of filter options to customise the sound to your taste.
10. Full function remote.
12. Easily readable color screen with good resolution.
What's not good:
1. Pioneer App is stable and useable but not as user friendly as the best Apps.
2. No WiFi, only LAN. If your router is not nearby, you need to use WiFi extender/mesh.
3. Spotify is supported by Pioneer ControlApp but not Tidal. I use mConnect for Tidal. Other uPNP Apps should also work.
Minor scruff marks and signs of wear. Functions perfect.
Comes with remote & printed manual but no box.
FOC: Western Digital 2TB HDD with personal collection of ripped and downloaded music (Jazz, Blues, Classical etc) including DSD (SACD) rips.
Please note that XLR output sounds better than RCA.
Reluctant sale of my long time favourite source component. Giving up on separates.
Welcome to audition in Cyberjaya.
Here is a comparison of N70A (GBP 1000) with the more expensive Cambridge Azur 851N (GBP 1400) done by What Hifi. In spite of the well known bias of What Hifi (British product is always better), N70A scored 5 stars.
