Marantz CD-63SE (advice needed)
Dear all seniors,
this is the 1st time I open my Marantz CD-63SE and look at inside the internal part.
Sifu & Master, can I know is this a Original layout or a Modded layout...
Please advice,
TQ....

TK,
Your player has been modded.
Looks to me it has a new PSU for the analog stage, a PSU for the re-clocking device (far right), new sets of RCA output and AC input filter caps.
Does it sound good?
cheers.

Bro, not to offend your friend (he must also be one of my friends la) but when I saw that picture, it rang a bell and slowly build up on my memory; actually that player was modded by me - for a friend of mine many years back which I can't remember his name lioa
Maybe he did send it to Mr. Oh for other works but most of the signature job surely looks untouched.
Cheers

Indeed it's a small world and everyone is learning something new everyday so that applies to me too.
Mods on your player are:
1) Octave cap across L-N for mains noise filtering. That little blue cap above it is a VDR to reduce spikes in the incoming supply.
2) The toroidal transformer is to supply the +15/-15 volts dedicated to the analog stages. You can also see that the bridge rectifier has been snubbered with 4 brown caps to reduce rectification noise. Below it is a round black ferrite choke to filter noise.
3) The square gray transformer is dedicated for the reclocking unit.
4) Most of the free dangling wires have been wrapped. Again to reduce noise induction.
These are the major mods - I can't remember which caps that I've changed but I think it's adjacent to the HDAM modules.
cheers.

Re: Marantz CD-63SE (advice needed)
Omg...
It so damn technical but is cool...
In layman term, what is the major difference compare with stock layout?
When my fiend mentined to me about the Trichord clock, what is this for?
I can hear the performance almost as good as my few k player....
Glad i got this wonderful unit....
Cheers,

Well basically this unit has a much stronger power supply, a good clock to reduce jitter and a stiffer chassis - so it adds up to bring out more music.
Those are the mods of yester years bro - if I'd were to do it again I'd bypass that opamp + HDAM module for a high current valve stage
Cheers
