Re: Frank Power Bank
Hi all,
I'm new to Frank Powerbank, so I cannot help but bump into FRANK ULTRA BANK STORAGE UB-25000W :
http://fveuroaudio.wixsite.com/audio/frank-ultra-bank-storage-ub-25000ws
In Frank's website (above), it mentions :
"Option 2 is connected directly to the outlet off the FRANK Ultra Bank. The FRANK Ultra Bank comes with a pair power outlets with an inbuilt EMI filter for the earth/ground. This also allows you to experiment with different varieties of power cords and power strips - we have no recommendations on this but trust that you will have some favourites that you may want to use with the FRANK Ultra Bank."
Any sifus here is powering up your gears directly from FRANK ULTRA BANK STORAGE UB-25000W as per stated in "Option 2" ???
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Option 2 suggested connections enable your components to be connected nearest (shortest path) to the power storage unit. I find this option to be superior to Option 1 suggested connection.
In my system I have 2 units connected as Option 1 and another 2 units connected as Option 2.
Whether connected as Option 1 or 2, the Sound Quality of the audio system will improve tremendously.

Re: Frank Power Bank
is it advisable to install power line conditioner/noise filter to Power Bank/ Ultra Bank? Or simply connect Hi Fi Equipment straight to PB/UB? Will preamp and cd player benefits from PB/UB or only power hungry equipment like POWER AMP? thanks...

All hifi equipment will benefit from FPB or UB, irrespective of their power requirements.
If your existing system benefits from power conditioner/noise filter then it will also be beneficial when connected to the FPB/UB.
All my power conditioners are connected to my UB.

Re: Frank Power Bank
DrWho wrote:What makes the difference between a good sounding system and a great sounding system? My answer would be the absence or greatly reduced electrical noise, especially those high frequency noise.
I have spent more on improving my power supply than on my equipment and am extremely pleased with the result. My final frontier of eliminating EMI came in the form of
FRANK PE-35 GROUND LOOP EMI FILTER
The absence of electrical noise, thus enabling our systems to produce nuances and harmonics, is what that makes a system sounds REAL. With Frank PE-35 Ground Loop EMI Filter installed, I was able to hear rich low-level informations and very low noise-floor level.
Once again Frankie has created a Must Have device for all serious audiophiles.
i agreed with you. i have run 4.0MM wiring (spur) directly from a dedicated 32A MCB to my listening room. To my surprise, you will hear more fine details in the music couple with lower background noise which are so quiet and cleaner. Having said that, i was thinking to add 1 UB-15000ws to further improve and extract every last bits of the music to enjoy pure music experience. Will UB-15000ws actually further lower the background noise and improve the sounds?

Hi aawcy, I am using 2 units of FPB. what I knew is 1 FPB is better than 0 (no) FPB, 2FPB is better than 1 FPB. Many users here are using more than 2 FPB's. I used Frank ground loop too.

Re: Frank Power Bank
I'm 10 years late to the party. Some questions for current owners.
The naming of Powerbank and Ultrabank is a bit confusing. I assume they are the same thing, the Ultrabank which looks like a power amp, big and heavy and has 2 outlets at the rear of the component.
1. Do people use a cheapo power cord to connect the Ultrabank to the wall outlet? Say a cheap power cord that comes free with electrical appliances such as kettle? Or will the Ultrabank perform at a higher level with better high-end power cords?
2. Do people plug the Ultrabank to the standard UK wall outlet or upgraded American wall outlet such as the Furutech GTX-D (R) ? Is there a difference when connecting the Ultrabank to different types of wall outlet, standard UK switched outlet or upgraded Furutech US outlet?
3. I presume plugging the components directly to the Ultrabank with good power cords will produce the best results? Plugging in a power strip or conditioner to the Ultrabank may limit the full performance if the power strip is of low quality?
I would appreciate some thoughts.

Re: Frank Power Bank
Hi Ryder,
I am using two FUB and two FPB. They are about the same but one with outlets and one direct to DB without outlets. I believe both serve the same purpose, energized your home's electricity.
For FUB, the power cord used to connect to the wall socket makes a big different in SQ. Meaning to say, it will bring in the PC sound signature into the system. A better cable will makes improvement based on my experience.

Re: Frank Power Bank
Hi Seasky, thanks for the information which is much appreciated. That is surely useful. Now I need to plan a bit whether to get a reasonably good cord for the FUB such as a Furutech or take a good one from one of my components and use it to connect the FUB to wall outlet. If I use the good power cord to connect the FUB to wall outlet, a cheaper or not-so-good cord will connect the FUB to component. Will see how it goes.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Frank Power Bank
Hi Seasky, sorry to bother you again. May I ask if you have tried swapping different power cords between the wall outlet to FUB and FUB to component? I just want to know which area will make a bigger difference so that the best power cord can go there.
Right now I have few power cords, some cheap and some expensive (but very good). I am not sure to use the best power cord from wall outlet to FUB or the FUB to component. I would appreciate your thoughts if you have managed to do some experiment. If not, it's OK as I will need to find out myself which may take some time and effort.
Thanks.

Re: Frank Power Bank
Just an update. I bought it earlier last month but didn't post any impressions during that time as early experiences are not very encouraging when the difference in sound quality with and without the Ultrabank is minimal. I left the unit powered up via wall outlet but didn't have time to listen during weekdays. I only have time to listen on weekends only. After about 3 weeks, music suddenly sounded different, and better. It's not night and day but it's the small difference that makes a big impact in the listening experience.
I have you say, the thing is very heavy. At 45kg it's the heaviest component I currently own. The heaviest amp which I previously owned is much lighter at 38.5kg. Getting the Ultrabank out of the box and into place is certainly not an easy task as it requires me to summon some of my inner Herculean strength to accomplish the task. The end result is well worth it though. For people who are looking for power conditioners of any sort, or people who have not tried this Ultrabank, I can highly recommend that you try it. The price is very reasonable and value for money in my opinion. Some of my power cords cost higher than this UB.
Some pictures.

Re: Frank Power Bank
Hi Ryder,
I believe all this needs mix and match. For example, if u use the expensive power cord from wall to FUB, then the sound signature from that (expensive/hign end) power cord will be inherited to your entire system. if the sounds is 'too aggresive', then you may use the second from the list...
Always good to try

Hi seasky,
Thanks for the response. You are right. I already swapped the expensive power cord between wall outlet and Frank Ultrabank with a cheaper cord and the sound is more open and less congested in the midrange. Looks like mix and match is more important than putting the most expensive/best power cord on the UB. The expensive cord now goes between the UB and component(DAC).
Although I have the desire to get another Ultrabank for my other components, I have no choice but to drop the idea since the thing is too big and heavy, too difficult to manage. No more space to put the monster-size power bank too.
