Re: What are you listening to right now?
For the evening, listening to a load of 45rpm records in a refurbished 1963 AMI ROWE jukebox.
Yes, I have to slot in 20sen coins and press some buttons. I had to tinker and finetune this jukebox including replacing the MM cartridge.
I didn't know there existed "made for jukebox" 45rpm 7" discs of local artists from Ella to Saleem to Alleycats to M Daud Kilau. Entirely nostalgic.

Wow! Jukebox at home! Drooling...
The jukebox song i missed the most would be "Sejati" by Wings.
Somehow it doesn't sound the same on CD.

Thanks but the lot is too pricy for my blood. Acquired another stack yesterday for Rm1.50 each.
Ok, lets not confuse the jukebox with this thread. Topic is about what are you listening right now, and I was listening to a jukebox, quite straightforward really, something entirely different from the mainstream, moreover something quite nostalgic.
BTW, the Malay 45 singles DON'T SOUND GOOD! Sounds like it was some cassette rip. Cheaply pressed I suppose for the purpose.
Now spinning a Freddie Aguilar (Polydor) LP. Bulag At Bingi.

The Boxer Rebellion can sound like a cross between Radiohead and U2 but mostly have their own signature sound. I would rate the first album as the noisiest followed by the second and then the third. Angry has also made way for melancholy..

Elhefe,
the synergy between my Sennheiser HD650 adn your Musical Fidelity V3 is so good tha i have recently started to listen to classical... some how could not capture the emotion of an orchestra on my main rig before. So this weekend listened to..

Re: What are you listening to right now?
If there's anything I'd like to own in the near future is getting a pair of good headphones to use once a while. Long ago I had a pair of Pioneer SE-100 till it broke. Missed that so much. Have a H/P amp collecting dust. Time to revive that thingy in good time.
Going to spin my Rega P3 this evening with some Decca label classics.

Bal,
This is what I was talking about in my review thread of M1 HPA - a personal musical 'space' when listening through headphones. It is definitely a different experience altogether compare to main rig.
Good to hear your Senns are blending well with the V3.

This piece of vocal will warm you up during these cold & raining nights - especially on track number 4 (Dance with my father). Excellent recording with warm and touching lyrics. Highly recommended.

Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More. Along with Noah and the Whale and Laura Marling, MAS are one of the proponents of the nu-folk/rock movement and this album their debut is a pretty decent piece of work.
A-Ha - Scoundrel Days. A 25 year old classic which I have not listened to for quite a while (many many years) till recently. Sounded pretty bright and harsh on my old system but wonderfully balanced on my latest.

If u like broery u should buy the red cover LP...most of the song inside the album is good...The ori version of this album is very rare to fine...1 of my uncle have the ori version of this album (have extra 2 songs)...ori LP cover for this album also not in the internet to share with others....what i can remember from the cover - broery playing piano looks young and without mustache ....
Im not 'GILA' with malay LP ....... just collect my favorite artist like Jamal Abdillah (recording company should produce audiophile copy ) Sudirman and our legenda P Ramlee and Saloma

Noah and the Whale - Last Night On Earth. Synthesizer big beats on a NATW album or their Achtung Baby album? Not quite but still enjoyable in spades. Pretty short @ 33 minutes for an album

The Boxer Rebellion - Union. Magnificent. Even better than their latest
Lisa Hannigan - Passenger. Like her one time collaborator Damien Rice, the sophomore follow up to the incomparable "Sea Sew" is not nearly as good but still a pretty decent album overall.
Birdy - Birdy. Ms Jasmine Van den Bogaerde aka "Birdy" is a young lady that can sing like a real experienced pro despite all the compositions except one being written by men more twice her age and definitely doesn't sound like a 16 year old. Haunting!

Re: What are you listening to right now?
One of the gems I got from Singapore trip...Gipsy Kings ...este mundo?..
Kirk Hammet, Steve Vai, Yngwie....might be good metal guitarist...but for pure acoustic melody...Gipsy Kings is the best. I was lucky to be able to see them live...in one of their free street shows in Barcelona...waaayyy back in 1999.... Nice....
And also Joe Strummer and his band....The Clash with their 3rd studio album...London Calling

My first Feist album - Metals. My only previous experience with her was in the Kings of Convenience album. Quite a bit of strings for this one as she tries to mix it up.

Phantogram - Eyelid Movies. This debut from NY-based Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel sounds like a tad like "The XX" but has enough interesting moments to hold their own. Big bass!

Foster the Peeeeeps LIVE in KL!!!
WE WUZ THERE!!! Me and my old ears, the both of them! The oldest by far, in a sea of screaming kids. What fun we had, attempting to jump and shout and scream until the knees and hips gave way.
Man, the KLCC convention centre, all closed up was the venue. It was big enough to engulf the WHOLE street where my terrace house is, even if the houses were all triple story high. When the 1st bass note hit my chest, i was in 7th heaven. And heaven stayed until the last dying notes of 'Pumped up kicks'.
I wanted to ask the management to let everyone out, just for a weeee second, so i could stand alone in the sweet spot just for the tiniest of time, just to, you know, experience the moment or dream of having a sound room this size, with my own personal band playing (oh bal, the heights of self centerdness you go to!!), but i guess they wouldn't fall for that, so didn't. Sigh.
Oh to own a billion bucks and have a room that size, and be able to employ some one to climb up onto that massive stage to change your cd's for you.
Nice to dream. In the meanwhilst, concerts like these make my blood go zooom!
Bal
(how the %$@#*tzzz does one upload pictures on this site without having epoplepsy or a stroke??? Dudes, make it easy or pray teach.)
