DENON AVC-A1 Problem Empty Re: DENON AVC-A1 Problem

Post by tkhoo60 Thu Sep 06, 2012 2:06 am

dear sir,

i found this solution below, but i not understand what is that,...anyone can help...

cheers,

"Last night one of my back speakers immitted a loud bang and the amp ceased working.
I switched the amp off, it went through the usual sequence of slow
flashing light but then all the monitor lights went out just leaving the
standby indicator flashing.
I have researched the uk google pages and found a possible solution.
I've just copied the post from the forums, so here they are:

Just as an update for anyone who has - or is - experiencing the same problems I have had.
The cause has been diagnosed as the two "ginormous" power capacitors
within this (AND The U.K.) beastie. 33000UF and 71volt apparently - like
mini power stations they are!
The kind people from Denon repair agents, West Drayton - Tosh and Mike -
agreed to supply me with the parts (£69.00 inclusive of VAT and
delivery) which I received overnight.
My local repair man is fitting the capacitors - time permitting in his
busy schedule - but he assures me this is 99.9% the cause of my problem.
One of the capacitors is apparently showing signs of advanced
"pregnancy" a sure indication of the fault.

Now sorted and perfect after a good weekend tryout the Amp/receiver is now back to it's glorious best!

Apparently including replacing the capacitors (previously described as
the fault) the "driver transistors were also "dry jointed".
Once re-soldered the problem was fixed..........Hopefully for a long time.

Hope this may help anyone with a similar problem......I am also assured this would be relative to the AVC1 series
I hope that helps, Mike"

DENON AVC-A1 Problem Empty Re: DENON AVC-A1 Problem

Look up RS components or Element14 (previously Farnell).
Search for the same capacitor, 33,000uf 71V.

The value may be slightly higher value if the exact value can't be found.
I see some of 33,000uf 100v and 36,000uf 75v (no 71v) on Element14 but they cost a fair bit.

Try Denon and and ask them how much it will cost for the caps alone.

Of course Denon will charge more than Mr. Oh for the service.

But if you are a DIY person AND YOU KNOW it's the caps that need changing, then it's quite a simple job. Otherwise leave it to the experts if you are not sure.
