Reclocking Meridian 506 CDP
After reading Wikin and other positing on the CDP upgrades, I finally took courage and embark on a similar DIY project.
My Meridian was having track skipping problem. I changed the laser lens, but the problem persisted after a few days of use. I solved this problem by changing all the PSU caps on the servo controller board using Panasonic FCs caps. While I was at it, I also decided to change all the PSU caps since the CDP is over 20 years old.
It took me a while to plan a DIY upgrade my Meridian 506 CDP. Unlike some Philips and Marantz CDP, there were not much information on the net on Meridian 506 - no schematics nor modifications. I also contacted Meridian for the schematics, but no avail. The effort was in tracing and studying the circuit and components.
I finally did the following :-
i. Upgrade to Burson dual opamps,
ii. Reclocked using a DIY TCXO clock and shunt power supply
iii. Recaped all the PSU capacitors
iv. Changed the voltage regulators (7805) to LT1085.
PM me if you have a Meridian schematics, or want to embark on your own DIY project to upgrade your M 506. I would be happy to share with you the schematics and components tracing/values that I have developed in my DIY project.

Re: Reclocking Meridian 506 CDP
Any significant improvements?
Maybe silly of me to pose such a question.
I presume it's obviously a successful upgrade.
