Hi all,
I am looking for Concertino Domus and original speaker stand, should i buy both of them in one go? Is the original speaker stand make sound improvement compared to generic speaker stand?
Hi sfcwlim, i would strongly recomand you to get the sonus concertino domus with the original dedicated stands. Earlier, i was having these speakers for 6 months trying out various stands but everything Tak Jadi. I got fed up and i went to get those dedicated stands at last and suddenly after listening, WOW! How come so much improvement...? After that i relise that all sonus stand mount speakers was design with its original stand slightly tilted up to get the best out of the speaker. In my opinion the sound improvement went up almost 30%. Maybe someone in this forum might disagree with me but it was base on 'My Humble Opinion'. Dont worry i m not paid by Sonus Faber to give this statement. After all, not only it gives you better sounding but also the 'looks' of your speakers.

hello opera,
I am SF Concertino user, my sytem is nearfield in small room, I prefer tweeter on the inner side & slightly toe in. But some user prefer outer tweeter + toe in. I think this is depend your taste & speaker position.

really really good price.
Yes. That's a good price.
At this price, I would say that it is better than grabbing those new generation of "Designed in UK, Made in China" speakers.
Now, he should have a nice budget for a good pair of stands.
This reminds me ... i think i saw this at the back of a Krell S300i Integrated Amp ..... "Designed in blah bla bla USA, Made in China " !!!!!

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
Yes. They are now in that sort of category.
So many brands are doing this but I did not see a drastic drop in the selling price. They always say moving to far east is to lower the cost and to make their products more affordable. It seems that they just want to increase their margins.

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
It is very common these days.
I believe the companies are doing this to ensure they can survive in the long run.
Lots of companies have established their reputations and no matter where their products are being produced, the sales will still be healthy.
So, moving to far east will not bring them much disadvantage.
But what I want to point out is the selling price after they move to far east.
I found that they are even more expensive than being produced in the country of origin.
Let's hope SF will not do this to us in the future.

i don't think sonus can produce in china eh...
lol
because speaker , the workmanship and the origin is very important.
like zingali , chario, and sonus faber. they are famous as they made in italy. if move out to china. their market will drastically drop. and anythings that produce in china. there will be OEM come out already lol. china guy good in cloning..
by the way. the cheapest TOY oso still MADE IN ITALY.

It's not easy to imitate the speaker made by Italy as most of these speakers are hand-made and required high quality of craftsmanship.

Really really hope they will remain in Italy forever.
I admire the craftsmanship of the speakers a lot.
That day, I had so much trouble to remove the banana plug hole covers from the speakers. Damaged my nails.

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
I am just starting to learn more at this sort of level.
I guess I really have to get more listening sessions to find out what I should look for.
Then, after getting familiar and with direction, I will set my target.
It is still too soon as my wallet is still in ICU unit.
Not yet discharge since buying a pair of SFCD.

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
there is a reason why theres a power rating mentioned on the rear speaker
if u listen mostly to jazz, pop, classical, than the nearer to max rating may be better
if u r listening to rock, industrial, gothic, than better not go for max rated
or otherwise the speaker life span can go shorter & shorter every time u play them loud
IMO

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
I think the damage will be highly depending on the level of listening volume.
If we have a high power amplifier but we did not turn the volume knob too much, damage can be prevented.

Re: Sonus Faber - discussion thread
its easier to damage speakers with a low powered amp than a high powered amp.
Reason being is that when low powered amps are pushed beyond their limits , the power output does not just stop at its "rated" power , but it can still pump out more juice, only that that the juice is full of distortion and clipped signals and its these high powered clipped signals that really blow the speakers.
a "25W per channel" amp can easily output in excess of 200Watts at the output stages. Just that its all nasty and distorted and this will surely burn the voice coils, that is if the amp's output stages do not burn out first.

it sounds "nasty"...
Maybe if u go to some ah-beng car accessory shops and the've cranked the volume so loud that the sound "sounds like its breaking up" with alot of crackly and scratchy sounds. Thats distortion.

Wow.. That is like almost making the speakers to explode!!
I really dont want such thing to happen to my SFCD.
I think I have to fine tune the position a bit.
But still, the extreme toe-in style must remain.
(Hope it has yet to be 'copyrighted'. hahahaha... )
Just need to adjust the distances between side and rear walls.

Concertino Domus is actually the base model across the entire SF range.
The Domus is then followed by the Cremona, Vintage and Homage range.
I think the Auditor M should be around the price that you mentioned.
Now, the Domus line has split into 2. One is the Toy and the other is Liuto.
